While many 90 Day Fiancé relationships end in heartache, these stars managed to find financial success after their relationships imploded.
The 90 Day Fiancé franchise is famous for its explosive breakups, and some cast members have turned their broken hearts into financial success stories. Though it’s tough to show heartbreak on national television, the platform that stars of the franchise are given can be an excellent opportunity to capitalize on even the toughest emotional experiences. Fans have rallied around some stars for seemingly monetizing their broken hearts, while others have gotten dragged for the same thing.
Stars are not paid much to appear on the show, American cast members who are filmed for 90 Day Fiancé are paid around $1500 per episode, while foreign cast members arriving in the US don’t get paid at all, unless they already have a work permit. 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days stars are only paid around $500 per episode. Many of the show’s celebs (especially those coming from other countries with poorer economies) do not start their reality journeys with much financial privilege. Since a lot of cast members are often struggling financially when they are cast on the show, it can certainly be advantageous to utilize their star power in order to start businesses, even if it means leveraging their heartache.
The show’s producers claim that their success rate, in terms of marriages, is quite high, with only about 10% of relationships ending in divorce. However, that is only for the couples who make it to the altar. Many couples featured on the franchise’s spin-off shows, including Before The 90 Days, break up before they even get engaged. While these breakups often come with the sting of failure for those involved, dramatic splits are one of the things that keep viewers interested.
Rosemarie Vega
Rose was featured in Before the 90 Days season 4, when she met with fellow castmate Edward “Big Ed” Brown for the first time. Their large age gap initially made fans suspicious of Rose’s intentions, as she came from a very poor family, and Ed had quite a bit of money. However, fans came over to Rose’s side as Big Ed lied to Rose and treated her quite rudely. She’d left Ed and the franchise by the end of the season. Since her time on the show, Rose has found major success as a YouTube star, influencer, and model, as well as owning several businesses online and in The Philippines. She is currently in a happy relationship, and supporting herself and her son Prince with her various business ventures.
Erika Owens
Erika was one-half of the first LGBTQ+ couple to be featured on the franchise, along with her ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Matto. She had met Stephanie online after following her on YouTube, and the two met face-to-face in Australia on Before the 90 Days season 4. Their relationship ended disastrously, and the two did not part on good terms. Stephanie is well known as a clout chaser, and she’s made a lot of money off their breakup. Stephanie’s treatment of Erika made fans sympathize with her, and though she left the franchise after her initial appearance, she has maintained a large following.
Already a successful photographer, Erika has launched an artistic business called Glitterbuggin Crafts, through which she sells colorful handmade earrings. She also has half a million followers on Instagram, where she posts sponsored fashion, hair, and makeup inspirations, selling pieces from her colorful clothing collection online. In addition to finding success financially, she has been in a happy relationship with her partner Chris for the past two years.
