Chantel and Pedro Jimeno from The Family Chantel are getting a divorce, but the challenges they faced hinted their relationship was coming to an end.
Chantel and Pedro Jimeno from The Family Chantel have filed for divorce along with restraining orders, and many viewers believe their relationship was doomed from the start. Pedro and Chantel met in the Dominican Republic through a mutual friend. Chantel wanted to learn Spanish, and Pedro worked as a tutor. The goal was for them to learn from each other, but their friendship quickly progressed into a romantic relationship.
After finding Pedro attractive and enjoying their time together, Chantel returned to the Dominican Republic several times. After the third trip, Pedro proposed, and they joined 90 Day Fiancé as they applied for their K-1 visa. Alas, their time in the U.S. proved to be full of challenges and turmoil. Chantel’s family was suspicious of Pedro and his intentions. Chantel didn’t get along with his sister, Nicole Jimeno, and there were rumors that his mother, Lidia Jimeno, wanted Pedro to marry an American girl for the money.
Why The Live Audience Is So Important To Big Brother
Their upheavals and family feuds awarded them their own spin-off: The Family Chantel. During the four seasons, Chantel and Pedro continued to face the challenges of their families clashing and a lack of trust, on top of normal relationship problems like finances and bonding. However, their relationship concerns have escalated within the last year, and it appears their differences are beyond repair. Considering the instability the chaotic couple has experienced during their six years on TV, viewers are not surprised that the duo is parting ways.
Chantel Lied To Her Family
When Pedro and Chantel revealed their relationship on 90 Day Fiancé, they were secretly engaged, and Chantel let her family believe Pedro was on a student visa. Although her family knew the two were dating, it wasn’t until about a week before the wedding that they revealed the truth. Not only did they start their relationship in the U.S. based on a lie, but also aired the beginnings of their family rifts. Chantel’s family instantly grew suspicious of Pedro’s intentions, which caused them to theorize that he was only in the relationship for a green card and money to send to his family.
Pedro & Chantel Struggled To Get Along With In-Laws
Chantel’s family was increasingly suspicious of Pedro’s motives, but Chantel faced her own problems with Pedro’s family. Chantel and Pedro’s sister have gone head-to-head countless times, usually due to Nicole’s entitlement and yearning for Pedro’s money. For instance, when Nicole visited her brother and his wife, she refused to sleep on the expensive couch they purchased for her. She preferred to be in a hotel, which led to a dispute between the three of them. Unfortunately, their feud continued as they persisted to battle one another throughout their time on The Family Chantel. The ongoing feud also resulted in their infamous blowout regarding miscommunication and manipulation when Chantel confronted Nicole about her and her family’s incessant complaining about needing money.
The Jimeno’s Vs. The Everett’s Family Feuds
Not only did the couple struggle to get along with their in-laws, but their families didn’t get along with each other either. After Chantel revealed she wanted a prenup, the families became wary of each other, and their first meeting was nothing short of awkward. Pedro’s mother, Lidia, made chicken feet and legs. Pedro’s family expected their U.S. guests to eat the food, which Karen Everett thought was voodoo, even though they seemed uninterested in the food themselves. Nicole has also been proven to be the main source of turmoil as she constantly stirs the pot between the families. In fact, a family dinner with Pedro, Nicole, and Chantel’s family once escalated into a full-blown physical fight.

Pedro’s One-Way Ticket & Dance With Coraima Morla
Amid one of their frenzied arguments, Pedro booked a one-way ticket back to the Dominican Republic. His sister Nicole took him out partying and set him up with another woman, Coraima Morla. Coraima was a close friend of Nicole’s, who was also interested in Pedro on a more romantic level. Regardless, Pedro used the night to blow off steam and danced with Coraima provocatively. Pedro knew he “messed up,” and drama ensued when Chantel arrived. Nicole revealed the video she took of the two dancing, which led to Chantel confronting Coraima. The chaos continued to play out on The Family Chantel’s “Tell All” episode when Shaun Robinson replayed the heart-wrenching scene, and Chantel learned more about their relationship.
Chantel Hires Private Investigator
The lack of faith and trust in Pedro became more evident as time progressed. Regardless of what Pedro did to prove his love and devotion to his wife, Chantel’s family was convinced Pedro was in the U.S. for the wrong reasons. Karen and The Family Chantel’s Thomas Everett projected their concerns onto Chantel and, to prove their point, wanted to hire a private investigator to spy on their son-in-law. While Chantel was angry at first, she followed her family’s suggestions and allowed the investigator to look into Pedro, all without his knowing.
Pedro & Chantel’s Explosive Fights
Unfortunately, explosive fights between the families weren’t only the only concern. While it’s usually the families fighting against each other, Pedro and Chantel have also had their fair share of blow-ups. The Family Chantel season 4 has revolved around their various marital issues, including the possibility of infidelity. After attempting to speak Pedro’s love language by cooking him breakfast, the morning quickly escalated into their other marital troubles, such as the lack of intimacy for three months or his inability to show gratitude. The fight led Chantel to believe Pedro might’ve been unfaithful and doesn’t love her anymore.
In the end, no relationship is perfect, and everyone will have to face some challenges along the way. A couple must overcome them in order to strengthen their relationship, but it seems Pedro and Chantel gave up. Once they started their relationship with a lie, the odds appeared to be against them, and their relationship didn’t progress. Chantel and Pedro have been a part of reality TV for six years, and it’s heartbreaking to hear about the end of the marriage. Whatever happens between Pedro and Chantel, The Family Chantel fans are wishing them the best.
