Apple‘s USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable is available in four different colors. The cable is two meters (around 6.5 feet) in length and features a braided design for extra protection. It magnetically attaches to the charging port of compatible MacBooks and even has an LED indicator that turns amber when the device is charging and green when it’s fully charged. Like all MagSafe connectors, it also releases if someone trips over the cable, potentially saving the laptop from damage. Overall, it is one of the best MagSafe charging cables one can buy, but it doesn’t come cheap, coming in at $49 a pop.
Apple is primarily known as a premium consumer electronics company, selling desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, smart speakers, earbuds, etc. It also sells a host of accessories, including cables, cases, covers, etc. In addition, the company also offers multiple streaming services, including Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and Apple Fitness+. While Apple Music is also available on Android smartphones and tablets, Arcade and Fitness+ are only meant for Apple devices. Apple is selling its USB-C to MagSafe 3 cables in four different colors. While it was initially only available in Silver, Apple launched three new options in July. The new colors include Midnight, Space Gray and Starlight to match the colors of the all-new M2 MacBook Air. Of course, folks buying the M2 MacBook Air do not need to shell out any extra money for the cable, as Apple will provide them with a color-matched option in the box. That said, it will help 2021 MacBook Pro owners who were struck with unmatched cables for their devices and weren’t the least bit happy about that. They can now get color-matched versions by spending some extra money if they want.
The USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable is compatible with the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models from 2021, as well as the M2 MacBook Air. However, they are not compatible with the old MagSafe port found in the 2015 MacBook Pro and 2017 MacBook Air or older models. MagSafe is also not available with the all-new 13-inch MacBook Pro despite the older 14 and 16-inch models offering the feature.
As for the new M2 MacBook Air that already comes with color-coded cables, it is not only powered by a newer and faster chip than its predecessor but is also overall thinner and lighter than the M1 model. In addition, Apple‘s M2 MacBook Air also ditches the wedge-shaped design of its predecessor in favor of flat edges and rounded corners seen on MacBook Pro models.
