Big Brother season 24, which premieres July 6 with a live move-in, features 16 new houseguests who are ready to compete for the $750,000 prize.
After months of anticipation, the 16 incoming houseguests set to compete for $750,000 in Big Brother season 24 have finally been revealed. The competition reality show in which sequestered houseguests must survive weekly evictions to become the last person remaining, has been a hit since Big Brother season 1 premiered in 2000. With viewers able to watch the houseguests 24/7 with a live stream subscription, and the houseguests’ insightful Diary Room confessionals scattered through each season, Big Brother has equally found success in dozens of countries, including Canada, Brazil, Finland, Germany, Australia and India.
With CBS keeping much of the upcoming Big Brother season under wraps, fans of the series have been speculating over which houseguests will be moving into the season 24 house for weeks. Many viewers, especially online, believed that Big Brother season 24 would be comprised of new and returning players, especially since season 21 alum Kat Dunn has been consistently tweeting potential spoilers. While some fans were adamant that Big Brother season 24 would feature four former competitors in particular, others were expecting some sort of casting twist (such as twins Liz and Julia Nolan switching places in season 15) to shake up the house. In addition, Big Brother season 23 marked the first time that CBS explicitly committed to forming a cast of at least 50% BIPOC players, and viewers expected this to remain true for season 24.
The 16 houseguests set to move into the Big Brother season 24 house on July 6 are based across the United States, with the incoming cast members also holding a variety of occupations. The cast list released by Us Weekly, which also includes each houseguests’ photo and short bio, includes 10 players, like Big Brother season 10 winner Ian Terry was, who are in their 20’s: Alyssa Snider (24, marketing representative, pictured far left), Jasmine Davis (29, entrepreneur), Joe “Pooch” Picciarelli (24, assistant football coach, pictured far right), Kyle Capener (29, unemployed), Marvin Achi (28, chemical engineer, pictured middle), Matthew Turner (23, thrift store owner), Michael Bruner (28, attorney), Monte Taylor (27, personal trainer), Palomar Agular (22, interior designer) and Taylor Hale (27, personal stylist).
In addition, Big Brother season 24 will also introduce Ameerah Jones (31, content designer), Brittany Hoopes (32, hypnotherapist), Daniel Durston (35, Vegas performer/Elvis impersonator), Indy Santos (31, flight attendant), Nicole Layog (41, private chef) and Terrance Higgins (47, bus driver). Alyssa, Joe and Nicole all represent Florida, Brazilian-born Indy and Palomar reside in California, and Nigerian-born Marvin and Brittany hail from Texas. The rest of the season 24 cast, who will be playing a slightly shorter Big Brother game, are from the states of Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Delaware, Michigan, Utah, Georgia, Nevada and Illinois.
Although host Julie Chen Moonves has already confirmed that the Big Brother season 24 premiere won’t feature a live audience due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, fans still have much to look forward to from the upcoming game. In addition to the Palm Springs-inspired house being nicknamed the “BB Motel,” Julie also revealed that season 24 will feature plenty of surprises. Besides one twist that may see houseguests who aren’t nominated for eviction ultimately leaving the game, Julie also recently revealed that the new season will be made up of several themes, including one for the Big Brother fan-favorite roasting-robot Zingbot. Now that the 16 houseguests have been revealed, viewers (and, no doubt, the contestants) are more than ready to see who ultimately walks away with $750,000.
