HBO Max’s FBoy Island season 2 released the first three episodes where Mia Emani Jones, Louise Barnard, and Tamaris Sepulveda dumped nine men. Season 1 of the hit reality series had 27 contestants competing for three women and $100,000. Season 2 promised surprises, and with 30 men, it means there are more broken-hearted Nice Guys and vindictive FBoys booted.
FBoy Island is a deliciously shallow, tongue-in-cheek show with campy zingers uttered by host and comedian Nikki Glaser. Ultimately, it is not about the women finding love but more about blurring the lines between Nice Guys and FBoys. With a name like FBoy Island, FBoys are the natural focus, with the big question being if one wins, will he choose love and $50,000, or will he take the $100,000 and run?
Mia, Louise, and Tamaris have worked hard finding Nice Guys and FBoys. Together, the women have used their FBoy detection to weed out a respectable number of men just looking for a hookup and reality TV fame. While speaking with Variety, Nikki, the Fboy Island host, had an interesting take on the “F” in FBoy. She explained, “I always say, ‘Fboy: the F stands for Fragile more than anything.’ You can try to define an FBoy as just a heartless monster who just has a huge ego and doesn’t care about anyone but himself, but it really is just a Fearful Boy. He’s just scared. And I love seeing that vulnerability in these guys.” With how the dumped FBoys have reacted, she may be on to something in her assessment of Fboy Island’s more duplicitous candidates. In the first three episodes, the women were able to send some defiant FBoys to Limbro.
Five men have found their way to the rustic beachside prison with King FBoy Garrett Morosky. Zachary Wambold accepted his fate, leaving before Nikki could customarily cast him off with “FBoy, F-bye,” but Lukasz Yoder didn’t go down without throwing barbs at the women who cut him for being too innocent. Using being a virgin who kissed one girl as a pick-up line, Lukasz had one of the most jaw-dropping moments when he said he has “a roster of women, including models” and that he would make space for Louise. Nick Priola and Nickolay Pranchenko were next as Mercedes Knox manipulated Nickolay to confess that he called Louise an airhead. Even though Nickolay apologized, he got dumped. Nickolay stood by his earlier insult and threw Michael “Mikey D” Dakassian under the bus, saying he had a girlfriend back home. Louise says she is “hella smart,” so FBoys better watch themselves. After being called out, Mikey D started using Michael to sound like a Nice Guy and vehemently denied having a girlfriend. The women saw through his name change, and the truth came out in episode 3 when Michael, who was eliminated, brazenly confessed that his girlfriend knew where he was and they were going to Paris. Fboys, F-bye.
Three Nice Guys have left for Nice Guy Grotto: Carlos Lopez, Jared Seay, and Ilon Hao. After being placed in the bottom six, Nice Guy John MgBemena walked off Fboy Island. Maybe the show’s format was wrong for him, or he decided he had better things to do with his time. It remains to be seen if he went to the Grotto or returned home, but it seemed that this Nice Guy wanted to snub Mia. Carlos, Jared, and Ilon haven’t been seen since leaving Fboy Island, but the season still has a long way to go. Nice Guys, nice try.
While many men remain, several have made an impression. Mia immediately formed an intimate connection with potentially reformed FBoy Peter Park and has also got to know Kian Lewis and Danny Louisa, who were previously in her bottom two. Louise is enamored with confessed FBoy Mercedes, but he has become possessive, leaving room for comedian Benedict Polizzi and his polka-dot swim trunks to wine and dine her. Lastly, Tamaris was initially smitten with Tom Carnifax, but when “fresh meat” Casey Johnson arrived, she fell fast and hard for FBoy Island season 1 Fboy, who previously had his heart broken by CJ Franco.
