Monique Samuels might have transitioned over to OWN’s Love & Marriage: DC, but fans are still bashing her behavior during the inaugural season.
After showing fans “the real” Monique Samuels on Love And Marriage DC, the Bravo alum is still receiving backlash for her onscreen behavior. Monique heavily promoted her return to reality television after a two-year hiatus following her exit from The Real Housewives of Potomac. Many of The Real Housewives fans were interested in watching the new spin-off to Carlos King’s Love & Marriage franchise to review Monique’s dynamic with the cast. Considering her drama-filled departure from RHOP, many were interested to see if Monique would rile up anyone on the new show.
Monique made it through the premiere season without getting into any major quarrels with the ladies. But she got into a number of arguments with her husband Chris Samuels that turned viewers off. Many took to social media to call out Monique for her treatment of Chris. Bravo fans recalled Monique’s past issues with Chris’ mother on RHOP and likened them to why Mama Samuels might’ve been wary about embracing her daughter-in-law. Elsewhere, Monique faced criticism when she seemingly instigated drama between Winter Williams and the rest of the cast. With Monique and Winter being friends for years prior to filming LAMDC, many felt like Monique betrayed her friend when telling the things Winter told her in private.

After watching the season finale of LAMDC, viewer Liliana decided to share her overall take on Monique’s portrayal on the new show. While the fan was initially “on Monique’s side” during her time on RHOP, her behavior on LAMDC showed her a new side of Monique that turned her into a former fan. The viewer noted Monique’s “personality and how hard she is on Chris about everything,” as to why she is no longer a fan of the former housewife. “She appears to be very self-centered, ungrateful, and dismissive,” the fan added. “Traits I never imagined she possessed,” during her time on RHOP. “I agree. Seeing her on this new show has made me dislike her,” one user wrote in response.
Starring alongside fellow Alpha women like Gizelle Bryant, Karen Huger, and Candiace Dillard might’ve made it easy for Monique’s character flaws to slip under the radar. While most fans had mixed reviews about her physical showdown with Candiace, many still placed blame on Candiace for her vicious verbal rants that are known to get under people’s skin. But with no Gizelle, Candiace, or Karen to distract viewers, many were able to zero in on Monique and the areas where they feel she needs an attitude adjustment. Many fans agreed with Lilian’s tweet, saying the “truth” about Monique was finally revealed. Another fan said Monique showed the same characteristics on RHOP, and many just chose to overlook it. “She was always these things,” they wrote. “Candiace apologized to that woman the whole season 5 & that she wasn’t good enough,” they quipped.

Now that the veil has been lifted, Monique is officially a reality TV villain. She ended her time on RHOP issuing out one of the most scathing reunion show reads in housewives history. She then followed it up by snubbing Bravo and joining OWN’s Love & Marriage: DC where she boasted about showing “the real me,” only for her to reveal her “real” self that fans aren’t too fond of. There’s not much finger-pointing Monique can do this time. But knowing Monique, there’s always a reason why others misread her intentions.
