Google’s all-new Pixel 6a is up for pre-order in more than a dozen countries globally starting today. The Pixel 6a was announced at Google I/O 2022 in May alongside the Pixel Buds Pro. The event also saw the company teasing some of its other upcoming hardware, including the Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch. On the software side of things, Google also previewed Android 13 at I/O 2022. It will be released this fall with a slew of new features, fixes and general improvements over Android 12.
The Pixel 6a is the successor to the Pixel 5a that was launched last year to a generally-positive reception in terms of its performance. However, many potential buyers were turned off by the fact that it retained several elements from its predecessor, including a very similar design language and the same Snapdragon 765G chipset. However, the Pixel 6a represents a big jump over its predecessors, both in terms of its design and hardware. It is one of the most notable mid-range Android smartphones to launch this year alongside devices like the all-new Nothing Phone (1).
Starting today, the Pixel 6a is officially available for pre-order in many markets around the world. In the U.S., pre-orders are available from the official Google Store and Amazon at $449 for the single 128GB model. AT&T and T-Mobile will also carry the standard version of the device with sub-6GHz 5G, while Verizon will sell a different version of it with mmWave support, but at a higher $499 price point. It is also available for pre-order in the U.K for £399 (around $475) and in India for Rs. 43,999 (around $550). Some of the other markets where it will also be available for purchase include Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom.
As to be expected, the Pixel 6a is likely to be available to buy from a number of other retailers apart from the aforementioned online stores. For example, and after already going live a little earlier than expected, the Pixel 6a can also be pre-ordered from Best Buy. Shoppers can choose between an unlocked version of the phone and carrier-locked models from AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon. Wherever the phone is pre-ordered from, the general release date is July 28th, 2022.

The Pixel 6a is available in three different colors, including Sage (green), Chalk (white), and Charcoal (black). However, not all the colors will be available in all the markets, so it is important to check local listings before deciding which one to buy. The Sage is undoubtedly the most striking color for the Pixel 6a, while the Chalk and the Charcoal are less evocative, but more subtle.
