Tesla‘s new cloud profiles, called Tesla Profiles, let users save and customize their Tesla driver settings in the cloud and use those settings across other vehicles they own or rent. Previously, Tesla only allowed the creation of local profiles for individual vehicles, indicated by a silhouette, rather than a profile picture. Now, with cloud profiles introduced in Tesla’s new 2022.24 update, users have the convenience of using online profiles.
Local profiles gave users control over settings for their vehicles, but if someone owns multiple Tesla vehicles or uses a friend’s Tesla, having only local profiles has drawbacks. A driver would originally need to change the settings of the car to their preferred arrangement, but with cloud profiles, Tesla drivers won’t ever need to worry about manually adjusting settings again. Tesla’s new system will take away the hassle and annoyance of messing with settings and configurations.
Tesla Profiles will be easy to set up once a user’s Tesla account is linked to a car’s profile. Using the Tesla mobile app, drivers will see the vehicles that are inside the app, and Tesla Profiles will be available to any of those vehicles. Many settings are saved using Tesla Profiles, including seat and steering wheel position, autopilot settings, climate controls (including seat heating settings), driving settings, and more. As Not a Tesla App points out, the saved settings with Tesla Profiles give drivers the ability to easily make each Tesla Vehicle their own without the annoyance of rummaging through setting menus.
With online profiles finally becoming a standard for Tesla with this latest update, Tesla is becoming even more versatile and competitive. Being able to rent a Tesla car and have it feel, drive, and even heat seats exactly how a user wants is likely to be extremely appealing to many consumers. As Tesla vehicles become more prominent, Tesla Profiles will make having Tesla vehicles shared by family members less hassle when each person has different settings they like and dislike.
Tesla’s latest update now provides more control with online profiles, which are becoming more standard in every avenue of life, from video games storing saved game data online, social media profiles, messaging apps, and more. Tesla and other cars are slowly introducing more advanced autopilot features, self-driving advancements, and technology that will have settings that users may or may not use. Without online profiles, it would be a nightmare to go through and change every little setting each time someone stepped into a family car or rental. Tesla Profiles makes this as easy as signing in to an online account on a friend’s computer.
