A new pair of earbuds is coming soon from OnePlus under its Nord line. Here are all the available details about the upcoming Nord Buds CE.
OnePlus launched the Nord Buds earlier in 2022 as its cheapest earbuds, and now it is ready to follow it up with an even more affordable model called the Nord Buds CE. Here’s what to expect from OnePlus’s new budget earbuds. The disappearance of the audio jack on most phones has increased the popularity of Bluetooth headphones, particularly genuinely wireless earbuds.
Like wired headphones, TWS earbuds are available at a variety of prices. While some sell for as low as $20, others retail for as high as $249. And while not common, some manufacturers have begun to bundle free earbuds with their phones.

OnePlus will announce the Nord Buds CE on Aug. 1, and ahead of its launch, it has begun to tease its design, features, and price. In terms of appearance, the Nord Buds CE will have an open-fit (a.k.a. half-in-ear) design, much like the original OnePlus Buds released in 2020. This design choice means the earbuds won’t have replaceable silicone tips, which should help with passive noise cancellation and also provide a secure fit. In addition, a promotional page shows the earbuds will have a long stem with a recess on the upper part which should be a pressure-sensitive button for controlling playback and calls. It also confirms they will be available in white. Although an earlier report disclosed, there will also be a gray version.
Nord Buds CE Won’t Have Wireless Charging
OnePlus has also revealed the Nord Buds CE will pack 13.4 mm titanium-coated Dynamic Bass Drivers. These are bigger when compared to the 12.4mm drivers inside the Nord Buds. Considering these are on the budget end, they most likely will not support active noise cancellation. However, there should be some form of noise cancellation for calls. Furthermore, none of the teasers published by the manufacturer hints at water resistance being a selling point. Nevertheless, it should at least be rated IPX4 for resistance against splashes and sweat.

OnePlus will ship the earbuds in an oval-like carrying case similar to the Pixel Buds series. It is not expected that the budget earbuds will have support for wireless charging but OnePlus teases it will support fast wired charging over USB-C. It will be nice if it can match the Nord Buds, which provides up to five hours of listening time after just 10 minutes of charging. The Nord Buds CE will connect via Bluetooth 5.2, as revealed by a Bluetooth SIG listing. It should also be compatible with both Android and iOS devices. Like other OnePlus earbuds, these too should work with the HeyMelody app for non-OnePlus smartphones.
In terms of pricing, the Nord Buds CE should cost less than the Nord Buds and even the now-discounted Buds Z, which are both priced at $39 in the U.S. OnePlus has hinted at the new earbuds carrying a price tag between ₹2099 (~$26) and ₹2999 (~$38). However, since the Nord Buds are sold for ₹2,599 (~$33) in India, the Nord Buds CE should be cheaper. The earbuds will launch first in India, but it is not yet known if they will get wider availability or be announced in the United States.
