Samsung has announced a new Bora Purple color for the Galaxy S22, bringing the total color options to nine. Here’s when you can buy one.
Samsung has announced a new color variant for its Galaxy S22 smartphone called Bora Purple, and users who want to pick up the phone in the new paint job won’t have to wait for long. The word “Bora” means purple in Korean, so the name Bora Purple literally translates to ‘Purple Purple.’
It’s quite common for phone companies to announce a new color for their flagship smartphones once they reach mid-cycle. This tradition has been adopted not only by Samsung but also by Apple. In March 2022, Apple announced a new Alpine Green colorway for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. The new color was announced six months after the phone was launched. The Galaxy S22’s new color also arrives just in time for its six-month anniversary.

Samsung has revealed that the new Bora Purple colorway will be available for purchase starting August 10, the same date it has scheduled the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 smartphones. While there is no mention of which partner stores will sell the new color, users should be able to buy it from Samsung’s online store. Furthermore, Samsung has added a caveat that says “availability may vary by market.” This could mean that the new color might not be sold in every region where the Galaxy S22 is available.
The Galaxy S22 Now Comes In Nine Colors
The Galaxy S22 was launched in February 2022 in Phantom Black, Phantom White, Pink Gold, Green, Graphite, Sky Blue, Violet, and Cream, with the last four colors being exclusive to Samsung’s online store. With the new Bora Purple variant, the total available color options now stand at nine. The new colorway is a darker version of the existing Violet color option and has a matching frame, unlike the Violet variant which has a gold frame.
The Galaxy S22 has a 6.1-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor in some regions including the U.S., while in others, it has an Exynos 2200 chipset. Regardless of the processor, there is 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of non-expandable storage. The Galaxy S22 also has a triple camera setup that includes a 50MP main sensor, a 10MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera, while there’s a 10MP auto-focus camera in the front.

Samsung’s smallest flagship has a 3,700mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. In addition, it also has an under-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, and dual SIM support. The Galaxy S22 in Bora Purple should be available in 128GB and 256GB configurations like the other colors, and is likely to be priced the same at $799 and $849, respectively.
