Tesla CEO Elon Musk has confirmed that the Cybertruck will launch in mid-2023. It has been delayed several times since its unveiling in 2019.
At a recent earnings call for investors, Tesla CEO Elon Musk reaffirmed that the Cybertruck will launch in mid-2023. The latest confirmation comes a few months after Musk originally announced a 2023 launch date for the elusive electric truck. Speaking at Tesla’s Texas Gigafactory opening in April, Musk also apologized for the repeated delays in getting the Cybertruck into production. He also showed off what’s believed to be the production model at the event and promised to build it at the newly-opened factory.
Unveiled with much fanfare in 2019, the Cybertruck remains MIA almost three years after its announcement. Production of the vehicle has been delayed multiple times over the years, even as other electric pickups, like the Hummer EV, Ford F150 Lightning, and Rivian R1T have already started deliveries. However, despite all the problems, the Cybertruck remains one of the most hyped vehicles in recent memory, thanks in part to the promise of features like ‘Crabwalk’ which will enable it to move diagonally by rotating all four wheels at the same angle.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed that the company expects to launch the Cybertruck in mid-2023. Speaking at an earnings call for investors this week, Musk said that the much-hyped electric truck is expected to enter production “in the middle of next year” and claimed that it might be the company’s “best product ever.” It is the most specific timeline that Musk has provided for the Cybertruck launch, offering potential buyers an insight into how long they will have to wait if they hold out for the Tesla truck instead of getting a competing product.
The Cybertruck Finally Has A Launch Time Frame
Expanding further on the Cybertruck’s production, Musk claimed that it would benefit from Tesla’s focus on boosting efficiency in its manufacturing process. He also said that the same efficiency would also help future products that the company is not yet ready to talk about. As of now, the company is focusing on designing the Cybertruck platform at the Texas Gigafactory in Austin and getting it ready for mass production.

Although the Cybertruck remains at least a year away from entering production, prototypes have often been spotted at various events over the past three years. One of the latest sightings was at the Michigan Formula SAE competition at the Michigan International Speedway a couple of months ago. The Cybertruck was filmed rolling around the infield at the race track and was part of Tesla’s recruitment drive at the event.
