Welcome to Plathville fans are not happy, and now, they’re calling out Olivia Plath for trying to make the family’s cemetery visit all about herself.
Fans of Welcome to Plathville have always been wary of Olivia Plath’s attitude about several things on the show, including her recent selfishness at the memorial. The fanbase found the way that Olivia reacted at the cemetery disappointing, as she seemed to be trying to take attention away from what was most important at the time, which was the memorial’s significance. This level of self-centeredness did not sit well with the viewers, who believe it definitely wasn’t the right time for it.
The memorial was for the late Plath family member, Joshua Plath. The Plath siblings Ethan Plath, Moriah Plath, and Micah Plath decided to visit his grave on what would have been his birthday, and Olivia had the urge to tag along for the ride. A lot of viewers thought that her attending the memorial was unusual. What Olivia wasn’t expecting was to also see Kim Plath there, when the matriarch had not been invited.

It is safe to say no one anticipated what Olivia did next: not her husband Ethan Plath, nor any of the Plath siblings, and definitely not the Welcome to Plathville season 4 viewers. She decided to invite only Barry Plath along for the memorial visit, which was initially just for the Plath siblings, which meant that Kim was excluded. This did not impress the Welcome to Plathville viewers, and was seen as quite manipulative. When she learned that Kim would be at the memorial, she still went ahead and had a “meltdown,” ruining what was an emotional event for the family. Show fans on Reddit were definitely disappointed with Olivia’s reactions. One Reddit user, u/Complex-Somewhere333 said, “Olivia is ridiculous. It’s literally this woman’s BABY. How would you even think EXCLUDING her is ok? She’s a cry baby.”
The Welcome to Plathville fans were not the only ones who were disappointed with Olivia. Moriah Plath, who wanted the day to be about Joshua, would have preferred to be spared the drama, and was noticeably frustrated by Olivia’s behavior. It got to a point where she was fed up with her sister-in-law’s antics. Everyone said it’s her child she has every right to be there. Olivia is definitely able to feel how she wants to feel about things, but the way she acted in front of everyone. This seems to be the general view of Welcome to Plathville fans, who were none too pleased that she disrupted such a gathering in a truly self-centered manner. Some fans went on to say it was immature of her to act blindsided when she was informed that Kim would be coming along, considering she tried to exclude Kim from what turned out to be a family event.
Welcome to Plathville viewers earnestly hope that Olivia grows out of this self-absorption, especially as she tries to navigate her marriage with Ethan. Moriah seems to have stopped believing in her close friend, and no one could possibly blame her for that. As this season winds to a close, it’s a coin toss in terms of whether Olivia learns and does better, or continues to stumble and get shade from viewers.
