A tipster has seemingly revealed the launch date for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. Over the last few weeks, several leaks about Samsung’s next-gen folding smartphones have revealed quite a bit about them. A render of what’s said to be the Galaxy Z Flip 4 was also posted online last week, revealing the side profile of the device and showing off its volume rocker and power button. Last month, the device was also revealed in full on the YouTube channel TechTalkTV, revealing the dual-camera setup at the back and other design elements. The video has since been removed from YouTube for alleged copyright infringement.
A slew of rumors has also revealed several details about the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which will be an upgrade to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 launched last year. According to reports, it will not come with a built-in S Pen stylus due to Samsung’s insistence on form over function. The news came from the tipster Ice Universe, who claimed that Samsung is skipping the feature because it wants to make the new device smaller than its predecessor. Another recent rumor also suggested that it might ship with an almost-square main display instead of the 5:4 aspect ratio found on the Fold 3.
Tipster Evan Blass has tweeted an image that’s said to be the launch invite for Samsung’s next-gen folding smartphones. The image, which includes a silhouette of what seems to be the Galaxy Z Flip 4, confirms that Samsung will host an event on August 10 to unveil the device. It doesn’t reveal anything about the Z Fold 4 in particular, but Blass revealed in a follow-up tweet that the event would be named ‘Unfold Your World,’ suggesting that the Z Fold 4 might also make an appearance on that day.
Blass also notes that the image has been edited to remove certain details, but there’s no indication of what those details might be. Generally, event invites include the venue’s address and are only available to the media to avoid any potential security issues. So it is possible that the image only redacted that information and nothing that would be of any real importance to the public at large.
In terms of what to expect from the Galaxy Z Flip 4, it will reportedly feature the same design as its predecessor with some minor changes. It is said to ship with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip, a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120 Hz sAMOLED primary screen, a 2.1-inch sAMOLED cover display, up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 could also sport a 3,300-3,700mAh battery with 25W fast charging and 10W wireless charging.
