Love Island USA contestant Valerie Bragg reacts to the drama that went down between her and actor Chase Stokes, star of Netflix’s Outer Banks.
Valerie Bragg’s time on Love Island USA was not her first time in the spotlight, as her name was on every Outer Banks fan’s tongue at the end of 2021. The islander had one drunken night out in Orlando, Florida, in late December and somehow ended up the bane of Outer Banks fans’ existence when she hooked up with the show’s star Chase Stokes. Chase plays the show’s main character, John Booker Routledge, mostly known as John B, and his character is in a relationship with Sarah Cameron. In real life, Chase was dating the actress who plays Sarah, Madelyn Cline.
Unfortunately, the two went their separate ways in November 2021, and on a night out in Florida, Valerie allegedly became the actor’s rebound. Little did they know, someone was recording them, and when the video started circling around online, Outer Banks fans had themselves a new enemy. Fans quickly started blaming Valerie for Chase and Madelyn’s split, calling the Love Island contestant a homewrecker and harassing her on social media. The situation got so out of hand that Valerie had to post a video on TikTok explaining that she had nothing to do with Chase’s breakup and that the two are not together.

No matter how much Valerie tries to escape the drama, it continues to follow her after her appearance on Love Island USA. After her elimination, she’s had a few podcast appearances, one being The Wayne Ayers Podcast. After discussing her time on Love Island, the host asked Valerie about the drama with Chase, and she couldn’t believe that people still cared. Valerie couldn’t help but laugh as she admitted that she still gets criticism from Outer Banks fans over the situation. The Love Island contestant explained the situation on The Wayne Ayers Podcast from her own perspective, saying, “I was literally just drunk in a club. [Chase] comes up to me and starts making out with me.”
Valerie insisted that if any of the girls attacking her on social media were in her position, they would’ve kissed him back too. The contestant also revealed that the actor’s fans were commenting on her old Instagram pictures and insisting the guy she was with in the video didn’t look like Chase. “I’m, like, somebody take their phone away,” the Love Island contestant said. While the star hoped to avoid drama when she joined Love Island USA, it, unfortunately, followed her there too. The islander recently revealed that she didn’t feel welcome on the show and that one of the female Love Island contestants made her cry.

There’s no joking around when it comes to Outer Banks fans. They clearly take Chase’s dating life very seriously, and they don’t want to see anyone messing with his relationship. Unfortunately, their anger is misplaced, and Valerie wants nothing to do with the actor or the drama that came along with their December 2021 kiss. She moved on to other men when she joined Love Island USA. Since that didn’t work out, hopefully, she can find what she’s looking for somewhere else, though she might want to avoid Netflix actors for a while.
