90 Day Fiancé star Narkyia Lathan-Shodipe slimmed down to improve her health, and her fans at Instagram are loving her “after” photographs.
Following her bariatric surgery in 2019, 90 Day Fiancé alum Narkyia Lathan-Shodipe has been working non-stop on her weight loss journey. Many couples have been featured on the series, but fans are still surprised that American Narkyia and Nigerian Olulowo Shodipe from season 4 are together today.
After meeting online through a plus-size dating-focused social media platform, their turbulent relationship was at risk, as Narkyia caught Lowo in lie after lie. His first lie was that he’s a Nigerian Prince. His second lie was that he was living in Alabama, when he was actually studying business in Vietnam. Lastly, Lowo lied about the death of his former lover (and mother of his child), who was actually still alive, and in contact with Lowo.
Despite this shaky start, Lowo moved to America to marry Narkyia. Not only is the couple still together, but they now have a daughter named Nifemi Denise. Something most notable about Narkyia’s life is her 100-pound weight loss,
Narkyia In 2019
To show the progress she has made over the past three years, she posted photos of her from before and after weight loss surgery. Eight months after her procedure, Narkyia lost 80 pounds, and at the time, she was 91 pounds from her highest weight. As she shared in the Instagram post, she went from a snug size 24 to a size 16. The comments on the Instagram posts were enthusiastic and supportive, with people telling her that they were happy for her, and that she looked amazing. One fan even remarked that Narkyia was their weight loss surgery inspiration.

Continuing to show her progress, Narkyia posted a comparison update on her weight loss in early June of 2021. In a mirror selfie that was much like the one she posted in 2019, Narkyia’s outfits showed her weight loss between 2019 and 2021. Narkyia’s 2019 “before” photo features her in charcoal grey scrubs. Narkyia’s 2021 “after” photo also shows her in scrubs, but the scrubs are game-changing. Not only are her new scrubs fitted to accentuate her fit figure, but the vibrant purple colors and fun butterfly design are especially flattering. Fans sent Narkyia positive energy in the comments. One fan actually asked Narkyia if she would direct message them pointers for their own upcoming weight loss surgery.

Narkyia is doing well now, and one of her latest posts from this year shows an update featuring Narkyia and Lowo having a wonderful time at the AfroNation Festival in San Juan, Puerto Rico. While swaying to the beat at the concert, Narkyia shows herself off in beautiful dreads, sunglasses, and bold jewelry, including gold hoop earrings, bangles, and a thick gold chain. She also wore a flattering shirt in salmon pink, which was tied at her waist. Narkyia radiated confidence while enjoying a fun and lighthearted moment at the festival.
Narkyia looked incredible before and after her weight loss. Not only has she lost more than 100 pounds, which she has said saves her life, but she has inspired fans to take control of their own health. Despite the surprise of their lasting marriage, 90 Day Fiancé viewers hope that Narkyia and Lowo continue to thrive together as they build their family after marriage.
