One Apple customer claims to have received their new M2 MacBook Air a day before its official launch. Powered by Apple’s new M2 processor, the new MacBook Air went on pre-order on July 8 and will officially launch on July 15. The tech giant announced the laptop last month at its latest Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), where the company also announced its 13-inch MacBook Pro. It is also powered by the same M2 chip and comes with a number of features not available on the 14- and 16-inch models announced last year. Alongside the new laptops, the company also announced iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9 and macOS Ventura at WWDC 2022.
While the M2 chip currently powers a MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro, rumors suggest that Apple might use it in its upcoming 15-inch MacBook Pro models that are expected to be launched next year. That’s according to TF International Securities analyst and prolific Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo, who claims the devices will come in two main variants — one powered by the standard M2 and one powered by the M2 Pro. He also claimed that they would go into mass production in the first half of next year before being made available for purchase in Q2. In addition, a Bloomberg report from last month further suggested that the M2 processor will also power Apple’s upcoming AR/VR headset.

Redditor u/br3scia claims that Apple shipped the new M2 MacBook Air to them a day ahead of schedule. They also shared some photos that show off the device in a Silver color and seem to back up their claim. The images show off the device from many angles, including a couple of shots of its home screen while it is switched on.
M2 MacBook Air Comes With Color-Matched Magsafe Cable
The photos also offer a look at the laptop’s retail box, as well as its packaging and contents, including the manuals, Apple stickers, and a prominent ‘Designed by Apple in California’ label. One of the photos also seems to show a color-matched MagSafe 3 charging cable. Overall, the images reveal typical Apple packaging — functional, minimalist and well-designed.

Apple recently started selling USB-C to MagSafe 3 cables in four colors, enabling users to get color-matched versions if they want. However, M2 MacBook Air owners won’t need to shell out any extra money for the cable, as Apple will provide them with a color-matched option in the box. However, it will help 2021 MacBook Pro owners who are struck with mismatched cables for their devices.
